Fully scratch made lightsaber hilts I have machined by hand.
|
'Aperture is now complete'.
A semi scratch custom, using a couple of old ASP parts as a base, though heavily modified. - Pommel has had knurling and a scratch covertec wheel added. - Shine through grip windows to allow for chassis lights to show when installed. - Scratch machined brass switch box housing red momentary switch and 5mm LED bezel. - Auxiliary switch hole on the side. - Stainless steel and brass greeblies surrounding the switch area. - APS Auto vintage japanese camera lens housing modified and repurposed to fit the emitter. - Old Russian aperture selector modified into a working blade plug, retaining the lenses so it will shine through when lit up. I wanted this to have a Speeder Bike feel to it, while utilising the vintage camera parts. |
Demolisher This hilt is a bit larger than my usual hilts, at 14.5 inches end to end. It utilises a vintage shell casing as the pommel cap, which removes with a J-lock mechanism. The hilt features a removable switch plate with 2 momentary switches. A brass spine runs all the way up the back of the hilt. It has stainless steel detail rods embedded within it and rounded curves for ergonomics. A large shroud with an abstract etch covers the whole upper body and various screw and brass greeblies add further detail. |

Second Kanezra 100% completed.
|
The Steel Survivor A fully scratch made hilt inspired by Jedi Survivor. The hilt features a stainless steel grip, with genuine heat staining, multiple brass greeblies, and an exposed crystal chamber below the switch section. |
|
|
Kanezra V2 Another Kanan inspired saber for the books. This one has a crystal chamber, removable grip plate and a vintage camera film advance lever on the outside near the switch box. Experimented with more shapes and styles this time. The pommel also features discreet sound venting. |
Kanezra V1 A Kanan inspired hilt, with a unique small switch box, knurled grips and brass details. |

Vintage Speedy Boy
This speeder hilt, made for a customer, is a full scratch build and install, with a parts of a vintage brass shell casing as an emitter shroud. The Entire hilt is completed with scratch built parts and a couple of modified companions, weathered and blended together to give a vintage feel. A prototype chassis with a Golden Harvest V3 and neopixel install. The crystal chamber features a real quartz point, locally sourced, contained in a brass chamber with 2 mounting points. This was a wonderfully fun install in the end, despite the challenges! |
This saber is created using a vintage British brass torch. The tabs and sliders for the ancient electronics have been removed and a whole core has been built to allow for lightsaber internals.
The top end ID is 1 inch, and the bottom is 1.25". This allows for board and battery stacking for a removable chassis. A custom design would go beautifully with this hilt. The emitter shroud uses another piece of vintage brass from a 50mm shell casing. The hilt has a custom brass and aluminium blade plug, with a thumbscrew retention. It's been fun to finally find a vintage item that has been such a good base for a conversion. |

And it shall be dubbed...The 'Longboi'.
A commission for a customer who wanted something very unique, I've really been able to get creative with this one! From emitter to pommel, this beast is 22 inches long. 4 custom cut, shaped and etched shrouds. With an old republic theme and logo included on the primary lower shroud, they enhance the worn and ancient look of the hilt. Unique brass hex greeblie. Double crystal chamber, featuring a quartz crystal and opalite marble. The shroud over the chamber allows the chamber to be constantly viewed via the window in it. Custom switch hats to allow for double momentary switch control. Sturdy central connector. Suede leather wrap for comfort and grip. Custom pommel shrouds with flared effect. The pommel also has a D-ring, and open vents, which an internal brass decorative core, which allows for the pommel end to be lit up once installed. Pommel featuring brass details and decorative cog interior. The whole hilt is weathering and worn to match and blend, with small. |
'Gallow Glass' One of my most complex builds to date, this saber is made up of many many parts. The emitter core is hexagonal brass, with a detailed milled shroud fitted around it. A small brass switch plate and thinner neck section, with a double removable core and sword guards. This hilt is heavy, solid but also fairly slim. |
|
|
Katana commission Tsuba, single tactile switch box and a marble crystal chamber with a removable slip over pommel, while all still being rather comfortable to hold. Whats unique about this, is that the switch box actually mounts onto the chamber itself |
A semi mystery saber for a commission customer. Brass grip, double shrouds around a double tactile switch plate. Shine through around the emitter and matching blade plug, all weathered to match! This was great fun to build :) |

This was an epic and complex undertaking, but I'm very happy with the result. The customer wanted a CH similar to my previous one, but with a 3 crystal chamber!
Scratch made brass bunny ears, real steel emitter treated with heat for a real stained effect. Scratch machined switch box, with 2 x momentary switch setup. Removable crystal chamber cover, held in place with a thumbscrew and locking mechanism. The chamber itself features 3 pieces of real quartz, all with holes to allow them to be lit individually. The grip is removable by hand with 2 thumbscrews, and features a real steel pommel cap with a nice large sound vent. The speeder bike style clip on the end is also cut from scratch, and the washers to keep it raised are also custom machined to allow this feature. I really tried to focus on the smaller details here, especially with the machining. I think it's very important to focus on these things when making hilts from scratch. |
My first 'Corran Horn' inspired hilt. Short speeder style grip, brass crystal chamber with opaque marble, and removable magnetic plate to cover the chamber. Real steel emitter baffling and heat staining bring this together. |
|
|
'The Eternal Warrior' An extremely complex but slim saber, with multiple brass and aluminum shrouds over a core body. The brass crystal chamber is exposed and accented with individually spun rods, and weathering all over blends it together into the warrior of a long surviving hero. |
The Twilight Warrior pair. They are a scratch made paid that can combine into a staff, and are inspired by Ahsoka. They have one replicas switch boxes, but all the other parts are scratch machined, including the bunny ears and covertec wheels. Acid etched floral shrouds with Ahsoka logos, and shine through details around the emitters. Blade plugs with brass centers, with light weathering and high polish. |
|
|
The Void One of my most complex hilts to date, with multiple layers of shrouding and an exposed crystal chamber, Each part is individually weathered and detailed, with an etched under core and twist off grip. The shroud is etched with the jedi logo to give an old republic feel. |
'The Zenith'. This hilt was initially a build that turned into a semi comission for my sister's boyfriend. Installed with a golden harvest v3, KCP chassis and RGrB led. With a pulsing white faux crystal chamber too. The hilt is setup with double momentary switches, and a recharge port for simple operation. The emitter has layered shrouding and the lowr section has brass grips. The pommel also has some unique hexagonal metal for the cap which gives it a unique look. The hilt is rather long and designed very much as a 2 handed hilt. I'm really happy with how this came out. For a hilt with a 24mm speaker, it's also rather loud |
|
|
'The Wanderer' This The hilt has a dual tactile switch plate, and kylo ren inspired pommel with lots of milled and machined details. |
'Anointed' A saber inspired by the Horizon playstation franchise. White paint with blue beneath reflects the look of the machines from the game series. Multiple layers and interlocking parts give a highly mechanical feel. |
|
|
Isolation A ben solo inspired hilt, with real steel shrouding, twist and lock, steel heat burn effects, and the weight of about 3 breeze blocks! Working with steel was really good fun here, and the hilt itself has 3 steel areas, making it very solid. The grips are also inlaid with brass, starkiller style. |
Citizen
I've really enjoyed tweaking all the finer details on this. And as a few people told me, the neo pixel connections take up much less space than an LED heatsink and allowed me to place the recharge port in the hilts midsection. I had originally planned to put the port on the chassis below the board but this works equally as well. The shape of the hilt was loosely inspired by Ahsoka's clone wars hilts, but has taken further inspiration from myself. I wanted the hilt to have a detailed look but keeping somewhere close enough to the prequel simplicity to be believable, if that makes sense. The full hilt when installed still feels incredibly light, and is a 1 inch ID throughout, using my own chassis design, golden harvest V3, One Replicas switch box and a KR sabers 24mm bass speaker. |

The concept
This is the first saber I've built from a digital rendering, It features a removable grip, double shrouded top end, and a unique green and black weathered paint pattern. Due to the top end being extremely right, with an RGB led heatsink, 2.1mm recharge port and 12mm lit AV switch, the install was initially extremely tricky. Made for a friend from work, it features a golden harvest V3 and it's stunning smoothswing tech. |
Precursor Jedi
This is my third rebuild of this hilt, as I've never been truly happy with it. I've added a full shroud, with hand drawn etch details on it. All painted, weathered and detailed to match. I still need to tweak a couple of details, like the screws and some paint details here and there. This hilt now has a full Golden Harvest V3 install, with an RGB in hilt LED and 2 tactile switches. It also has a removable grip with an etched metal chassis sleeve. The aim was to make an ancient looking saber that would have been made by one of the first jedi. Ornate and detailed. |
|
|
Fallen Order Stunt A simple stunt saber with light only electronics, inspired by fallen order, but with copper accented grips, additional venting, detail elements and all metal shattered pommel with lit quartz crystal. |
A pair of sabers, intended to have been a former staff that's snapped in the middle. Shattered pommels, necks with open sides to reveal wires and rivets. The actual switch holes haven't been drilled so the new owner can decide where to put them, and the crystals are fitted but not glued so they can be altered. Slip off grips will allow for an all metal chassis install. Damage and scarring and mechanical details and weathering all over Also comes with matched blade plugs. Challenging but fun builds. |
|
Ancient Relic This is a saber commission heavily inspired by the old republic. 3 different areas of etching combine into a floral and ornate hilt, with a damaged pommel to reflect heavy use and battle scarring. |
|
|
Dwarven Order A fallen order inspired hilt, with added length to make it a 2 handed hilt, and dwarven style etching. This was a wonderfully fun hilt to build. The pommel was especially unique as it was the first pommel I did to really replicate a sword. Light weathering and milled details all over make this a very regal looking hilt. |
Hex A shoto like hilt with a perforated steel grip and faux flex pins round the emitter. This was a simple but fun little build. |
|
Survivor
This saber is fairly short (shroud excluded, and is made up of an emitter and switch section, with a slide to reveal bottom half. The Eco chassis is mounted in the top half of the hilt just below the switch section so there is no moving and tugging of wires. All machined, weathered and finished by hand, the saber also has my own version of the damaged pommel from fallen order. With damaged metal strips, rivers and several types of metals turned and blended together. |
|
Darkside Master Saber Completed! This one I am keeping for my personal collection. This saber is now completed, weathered and installed with a golden harvest V3. It has double tactile switches, a brass covertec wheel and a 5mm green accent led. Update, gone all out on this! Brass starkiller styled grips, dual tactile switch box, pommel partially completed, loving this hilt. The first pics of another jedi killer style saber I've started. Initially, I have the main pieces fitter together, blade holder bored out and started to create the switch box and add details here and there :) |
Valiant
A weapon wielded by a Jedi master of the old republic. I really enjoyed making this saber. From top to bottom... - Blade plug. Multi part with cog and brass screw, mounted on aluminium. - Emitter. ball turned shape, with lines, brass greeblie and brass M3 thumbcrew. Also M3 grub for heatsink retention. Neck, thinner neck for ergonomics. 8mm red switch. - Grip - Tried a new technique with the grip, underlaid shroud with a floral etch. Lots of fun to do! - Covertec wheel for belt connection. - Pommel, held on with a modified thumbscrew, so the pommel can be removed without tools. Angular pommel with brass ring and cog, vented for sound. |
Echo A remnant of times gone past. Inspired by both Rahm Kota, and the Dark Saber, A lot of intricate detailing went into this hilt. Brass plated grip, switch and plug, along with brass greeblie on the detail. Grip has flattened sides to emulate a katana hilt. Installed with a Stunt board, green blade and a recharge port with machined cap in the side of the pommel, which is also shrouded in real copper. |
OR Master Old republic inspired hilt, loosely based on the Orgus Din. I say loosely, I just had it in mind with the ornate etch. Custom made, multipart hilt with switch box and switches. Acid etched grip section, leather wrap. Brass machined detail up the side of the emitter. All screws, blade, heatsink and retention already done. Up for sale soon. |
A custom made saberstaff, inspired by the 'cobble together' elements from fallen order. The hilt is comprised of 3 main pieces. Both ends have a 1 inch blade holder, with thumbscrews, m3 heatsink retention screws and a D-ring. 1 emitter has a detailed shroud, and the other is contained within brass rings and has a machined claw, along with spots for a switch (included) and a 2.1mm recharge port. |
Annihilator
My most complex custom to date! I have gone all out on the detail with this one. Loosely inspired by the jedi killer, but with a more lightside look and feel. Made up of several parts, with 2 custom machined switch boxes. 1 for a 5mm tactile switch, and another design to hold 3 x 3mm accent leds. The hilt is designed to be opened without tools, so is held together with removable thumbscrews. all over weathering, details, screw infused grips and a tactically mounted brass rod. 1 inch ID throughout, and a pommel with a mounted brass plumbing piece, as I thought it looked great and provides venting for sound. |
Old Republic Padawan
A small sort of experimental hit I worked on. It is, as always, multi part, with a custom machined switch box, brass greeblies, 5mm tactile switch, and a thin neck, which is aluminium shrouded with a thin layer of brass so it's nice and sturdy. Various other screws, greeblies and a copper porthole. Also has a machined recharge port slot and matching kill key. Suitable for a short stunt install, spins, cosplay and show. |
Tojo (Yakuza) saber
Some of you may remember I did a giveaway a while ago for a custom saber....this is the result! The winner assisted with the design and choice of shape, pattern and style for this, including the etch patterns which include them emblems for the Tojo Clan, from the Yakuza videogame series. The hilt features a 1 inch ID, with a thin (ish) neck, merged emitter and shroud fitted 7/8 inch heatsink, plus 8mm momentary switch and recharge port on the hilt. |
An old republic and ornate shoto. Short (obviously), detailed and made from several parts, it had intricate etching all over and a reverse shroud pommel with a jedi logo. Able to be installed as a stunt, sound saber and even with a small reveal chassis. Features a 1 inch ID all the way through, and the pommel slips over the bottom of the saber to give extra space inside. Includes an 8mm switch, but could also be used as a spot for a recharge port. |
Purge
My fallen order inspired hilt, with my own spin on the design! Listing the details from top to bottom. Custom made shroud with art deco etching and jedi logo. M4 blade plug/blade retention. M3 screw for heatsink retention. Custom crystal chamber space in neck with 2 emitter windows. Mounted slim one replicas switch box, with spots for a recharge port and led, both included. Brown leather wrap. Removable bottom grip section, with m3 thumbscrew. Damaged and burned pommel section, with D-ring belt clip. This saber was one of the most enjoyable I have ever made. |
Insurrection Another custom machined saber, inspired by the force unleashed 2, but with my own twist. Steampunk styled acid etching Black leather wrap mounted switchbox (originally saberforge) Blade retention thumbscrew 2 x led bezels included Covertec wheel (also etched) Heatsink retention screw included All over weathering, scarring and blending. This saber is 1 inch ID all the way through. Can be installed with all the latest soundboards, proffie, golden harvest, plecter etc. Switch box may need to be modified to accept whatever switch you choose to install with. |
Conquest
I acquired a rather damaged empty hilt, and re-forged it into something else. The pommel didn't fit nicely when I got it, so it is held in place with 2 screws around the bottom. An old republic style saber, with signs of heavy use and slight steampunk hilts. The saber has a worn blue leather wrap, red power switch (non-lit), plus 2 accent leds (blue and pre-resistored, they can be switched out if needed though) and detail screws. There are also milled slots on both sides of the emitter, near the accent and switch area for additional lighting options. The pommel includes a brass ring and steampunk styled cog insert. Has medium weathering with polish over the top. Has an M3 blade thumbscrew and blade plug to match. Also has a heatsink retention spot. This hilt is for sale in the store and is ready for someone to install. |
Cadence As the name suggests, loosely inspired by the saber of Cade Skywalker. Though this version has a smoother and etched grip, with etching all round the body, circuit board details, switch, accent LED and recharge ports slots, with milled details, grooves, and weathering. Pommel can hold a recharge port, but is also vented for sound. Additional greeblies and details all over. D-ring belt clip. |
Luke - VX A scratch made thin neck hilt, made with the basis of Luke's green saber in mind, but with a dark side twist. Milled slots, grooves and details plus dark weathering and polish, blend together to make a sleek but sinister looking hilt. Slim one replicas switch box with dark activation clamp. Takes a 1 inch blade with double grub screws. Built in heatsink with space for a tri-cree and lens. Pommel is currently solid but can be modified for sound. |
Ornate Old Republic Hilt A total scratch custom, designed for a 1 inch chassis and heat sink. Ornate acid etching, combined with scarring, weathering and copper accentuation. Empty, but can be installed with any of your own electronics. Nice length inside to accommodate chassis. Will be sold as a kit, provided with fitted momentary switch, along with accent led and/or auxiliary switch for a second hole. Also made for a 2.1mm recharge port, which sits opposite the switch. |
Order Full scratch custom saber inspired by Kylo Ren, but styled on his first saber. 4 individual pieces connected together, to give a used and worn look. Battle scarring, dark weathering, heat burning, milled details and a bright orange blade to complete the look. Also features a flashing white power indication LED when the kill key is removed. Manually machined switch plate with 5mm domed tactile switch. Also has a new style of custom blade plug, just to try out something new. |
Cavalier Absolutely loved making this saber. Full scratch custom, loosely based on Kanan Jarrus' saber from Star Wars rebels. Featuring a removable emitter, visible crystal chamber, One Replicas switch box, custom blade plug, and pommel vented for sound. Sporting a Nano Biscotte V4 with Lord Blako's crystal harvest fonts installed. Recharge port inline with a power accent LED. |
Yggdrasil A saber inspired by norse mythology. Another totally custom saber and blade plug. Machined, cut, and etched by hand, with a custom shroud, etched with the worlds tree. Installed with lightning blue LEDs and a crystal chamber from Skywampa. Tactile switch activation and a CoreFX V2 stunt board. Leather wrapped, weathered and scarred. |
Special saber reveal for May the 4th, Phantom!
Another fully hand crafted saber inspired by the original trilogy that lived its life after Order 66. This time with many more details, modifications and interesting details than usual. Also, our first Sabertec Golden Harvest install. This brilliant little board is high on features, low on price. Fantastic fun to work with and it really delivers. This saber itself is made up from multiple parts. The main body houses the Amber/Amber/White Tri-Cree LED, chassis and custom mounted switch card. This was a spare clamp card utilised to mount 2 tactile switches on for striking but ergonomic activation. The rear grip holds the covertec belt clip and flex slide greeblie. The section is held on by a thumbscrew so that the recharge port can be easily accessed without tools. The shroud is made from 2 individual pieces machined to fit together, with mounted TCSS bunny ears, held on with a thumbscrew which also keeps the (custom) blade plug or blade in place. The saber also separates into multiple sections. The blade plug, shroud and rear grip can also be removed to reveal the skeletal body of the saber. Also sporting a suede leather grip and 3d printed chassis from Law Customs. |
